This interactive, educational book is adorable! It is brand new and in excellent condition! This item comes from a smoke free home. "Phonics Finders" books are a fun way to help young readers learn, spell, and master 3-letter words with a wheel to turn for different combinations of final letters. The story of "Fox in a Box" provides opportunities for children to find both the image and the missing ending sounds of CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words using 2 interactive wheel mechanisms. This book was published by The Book Studio and has a copyright of 2006. The author is Sue Graves and the illustrator is Jenny Tulip. This book is part of the "Phonic Finders Read and Learn" series. This particular book focuses on short o words and final sounds in words. Children turn the wheels to match pictures and words. The book has a heavy-duty cardboard front and back cover, and the turning wheels are also sturdy cardboard. The following is a synopsis of the plot of the story: Tom and his best friend, Ron are playing with Bob the dog. They come across a fox in the woods as they are playing hide-and-seek. The fox is hot and thirsty, so they take him back to Tom's house, make him a bed under a shady tree with one of their sweaters, and give him some water. As the fox still looks hot, they decide to mop him down with water. Tom and Ron then decide to make the fox a better bed by putting some old newspapers in a box. They let the fox rest, and the next day, he was much better. Tom, Ron, and Bob the dog take him back to the woods, where he leaps out of the box and runs off happily. This sweet story features cute illustrations with speech balloons. On each 2-page spread, there is a red word at the end. The word is either on both pages or just on one. Sometimes, the red word is on one page twice and not on the other. Children turn the wheel on the left page to find a picture that matches the word. On the right page, they turn the wheel to complete the ending sound in the word. All of the red words are short o words (dog, log, fox, pot, mop, box, nod, Ron, and Tom). At the end of the book is a review of all the red, short o words in the book. The words are printed in black and are in colored boxes. Children turn the wheel on the left side to find the picture that matches each word and the wheel on the right to find the ending sound in the word. This book is great, because it not only is educational and interactive, but it also shows children being kind and taking care of an animal in need. This item is rare and hard to find in new condition! I have only seen 1 currently selling online. This book would make a wonderful addition to a preschool or kindergarten classroom! It would also be great to have in a household with young children or to give as a gift to a little one! I am hoping to find it a good home.
